Top 100 Global Media Spenders















According to AdAge Global, by 2014 half of the world's media spending would be accounted by 10 emerging markets, and the emerging markets are expected to surpass US. While another report by Publicis Groupe's ZenithOptimedia estimated that China overcame Germany and became the 3rd largest market for media spending in 2010. By 2015, China would have surpassed the current No. 2 Japan.

The other highlights of the Global Media Spending are:
  • BRIC will be the major growth market, with Brazil taking the 6th spot, Russia coming in at 11th, India 16th and China at 3rd spot, in 2010.
  • 13 out of the Top 100 Global Ad Spenders allocated more than 10% of their total ad spending to China in 2010.
  • This includes some of the top companies of the world like P&G, Colgate-Palmolive, PepsiCo, Mars, L'Oreal, Estee Lauder, LVMH, Louis Vuitton and Chanel.
  • Yum Brands, the parent company of Pizza Hut, KFC and Taco Bell allocated 29% of their global ad spend to China, which converted to 36% of their global revenue.


  • P&G registered double digit growth and generated $5 billion in revenue from Greater China in 2011 fiscal.
  • While in India and China, P&G has more astonishing growth of more than 20%.
  • AVON products at 40% allocates the highest share of its media spending to BRIC among the top 100 global spenders.
  • The total measured media spending grew 12% in 2010 to $121.6 billion globally for the top 100 Global Marketers.
  • Procter & Gamble was the top spender in 1986 and has hold on the spot for 15 years now.
